Please Help!
I'm looking for ideas for my "Artist Dates". What's an Artist Date you ask? Glad you asked, it's a weekly assignment that's part of The Artist's Way curriculum - a course intended to help remove creative blocks and get the motivational juices flowing. The idea is for me to take my inner artist somewhere or to do something (by ourselves) that's inspirational and world-view-expanding. I'm feeling stuck. Any ideas?

How about a day at the Dallas Museum of Art.
#1 You can park underground and stay dry.
#2 Nice cafe to eat in...black bean soup is great!
#3 Take your camera...in the cafe...great shots of people and lovely gerber flowers on the tables!
#4 The Reeves collection is cool...looks just like their house...must see!
Lastly, it's very fun to be inspired by other artist work...take your notebook and journal your thoughts.
Best of all, it's always there so you don't have to see the place in one day.
Best of luck.
The Black Bean soup was really great...I had it today!
Some of my fave Artist Date ideas:
Go to a place where you can rent a horse. Ask for a gentle one (unless you are way better a rider than I am.) Go riding for an hour or two. See what you see.
*****
"Follow your nose" trips--get in your car with camera and sketch pads, and drive out of town, no map or plan. See what you find.
*****
Go to a science museum and watch the kids play with stuff, then join in.
Check out Illustration Friday weekly? Doesn't hurt your feet :)
how about a temple, mosque, synagogue, catholic church, baptist church, etc. on their sabbath day
a wedding
local playground/public park
city bus
The best one I ever ever did was taking off by myself (without a water bottle) at the Dallas Nature Center. It was a Wednesday morning, and NObody was even in the office or visitors center, so I just took off on the "bluebonnet" trail, allegedly "easy".....I got completely lost and ended up at the top of the White Rock escarpment overlooking all of DFW. If you want to cheat, call me and I"ll go with you.
